Create and Submit WaveWatch Modules

What is a Module?


A module is a small application or content that WaveWatch users can add to their personalized homepage. WaveWatch editor's create a default homepage for general users or users that haven't created their personalized homepage. This homepage is changed daily, often featuring new user submitted modules.

Create a small application or Module that WaveWatch users and editors can add to the homepage to be seen by thousands. WaveWatch provides an easy way to create and submit modules to WaveWatch's module index, where surf minded people from all around the world come to find them.

With a little coding experience, modules are easy to create and you can even turn existing web content into a module. Modules can be created with HTML, PHP, XML, JavaScript, or Flash. There is no special signup, and nothing you need to download.

Making a module

Edit Area - This is the area that users expand to customize the module content. This is optional.
Content Area - This is the body of the module.

Modules can execute any code, especially PHP and MySQL code. There are two editable areas of the Module, the Edit Menu Area and the Content Area (note illustration to right). Within these boxes any code may be input.  Code such as: PHP, PHP to access MySQL, HTML, CSS and Javascript/Ajax.

Additionally, an external file from any location may be included.  This includes files on the WaveWatch server as well as files on external sites.

Submitting your content module

Once you've completed a module that you want to share with the WaveWatch community, you can submit it to request its inclusion in the module directory. For security and stability reasons, your code will be tested before adding it to the module directory. WaveWatch reserves the right to refuse submissions that are deemed inappropriate or that can compromise the website.
